Feed me, Seymour!
Bladderwort is a rootless, aquatic, carnivorous native. Wee bugs crawl in the bladders between the leaves and the plant EATS them. These are the flowers:

Here's a trip: Google plumbago-you've seen it in Fremont. Possibly proto-carnivorous :)
