Science! Parhelion

Often appearing on either side of the sun-this one is on only one side-at the same degree as the sun




Commonly known as a sun dog, they more often than not appear white, though we tend to notice the rainbows




The red is always on the side closest to the sun.They are most often seen in winter because they are caused by refraction through ice crystals, as opposed to rainbows, which are refracted through water droplets


Keep an eye out as the season changes
