Science! Red tail juvenile

I posted that last picture of the large raptor Sunday.





Monday I tried seriously to identify the bird. It didn't have a red tail, but it had the right face, which is very hard to see.






And the right underparts. I didn't know at first that the red tail's juvenile tail plumage is dark and banded, which was a useful piece of information to have.
