Old pilings

Pend Orielle River. These pilings represent the storage and transport facilities of a mill, long since gone, built in the 1920s. Logs were kept floating between lines of pilings and men on the platforms would manipulate the flow with hooks and sticks. Note the nesting cormorants. Usk, WA.
